I received an MFA from Cleveland State University's NEOMFA, and PhD from The University of Southern Mississippi's Center for Writers, both with a focus on poetry. After moving to Boise to be with my husband, I fell in love with the town but didn't see the adjunct route as a solid career path, and other academic opportunities were limited.
I went back to school for one final time at Boise State University to pursue an MBA, and am now happily employed at Hewlett-Packard Inc. I still think of myself as a poet first, but one who is able to support her own artistic habits through a fulfilling career. I still engage in local literary organizations, write poetry in the evenings, and teach various workshops throughout the year. My life is full of many facets and I'm beginning to learn that perhaps this is not a mistake.
